Stand Firm: When God Is Your Strength

What keeps you standing when life feels like it’s falling apart?
Joshua 1:9 calls us to courage—not a courage rooted in our own strength, but in the unwavering truth that God is with us:
"Be strong and brave. Don’t let fear or discouragement take hold, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
This isn’t an isolated promise. Throughout Scripture, we see God fulfilling this word again and again:
Moses at the Red Sea
When the Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the sea, God told Moses, “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch how I will rescue you today” (Exodus 14:13, paraphrased). Then He split the waters, showing that His presence creates paths even in the most impossible places.
Daniel in the lion’s den
Daniel kept praying, even knowing it would cost him. And when he was thrown into the den, God shut the lions’ mouths (Daniel 6:22). His boldness wasn’t reckless—it was anchored in trust that God was near.
Jesus in the storm
The disciples, overwhelmed by crashing waves, cried out to Jesus. With a single command, He calmed the wind and sea (Mark 4:39). His presence turned panic into peace.
Paul in prison
Even behind bars, Paul wrote letters full of joy and hope. He declared, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13, paraphrased). His power didn’t come from his situation—it came from the constant presence of Jesus.
At Our Hope Is in God, we believe these aren’t just ancient stories—they’re living reflections of what God still does today. Every challenge we face is a chance to witness His faithfulness. Every moment of weakness can become a testimony of His strength.
So if you’re walking through a storm today, remember: you’re not alone. The same God who stood with Joshua, Moses, Daniel, the disciples, and Paul… stands with you. He doesn’t fail. He doesn’t walk away. He doesn’t forget.
What story of faith and courage are you writing today—with God by your side?
