Woman of Grace and Valor
"A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies!" — Proverbs 31:10 (NIV)
Have you ever stopped to think that your story — with all its cracks and scars — might be the most beautiful hymn God has ever composed?
There is a woman described in Proverbs 31 who is not an unattainable ideal or an impossible checklist of perfections. She is a portrait of what happens when a woman decides to walk hand in hand with God every morning, no matter what the day brings — you are a song that celebrates the faithfulness of God.
Grace is not surface-level elegance. It is the ability to rise after falling and say: "God, here I am again." It is the forgiveness you receive and learn to give. It is that unexplainable peace that holds you together when the world around you is falling apart. Grace does not come to you because you deserve it; it comes because God chose you before you ever went looking for Him.
Valor is not the absence of fear. It is raising children in faith when the world offers them everything to the contrary. It is praying when your circumstances are screaming at you to give up. It is serving in silence, without applause, week after week, because you know you are doing it for an audience of One. Valor is that yes you say to God when everything inside you wants to say no.
The woman who honors God does not live for human recognition. She lives because inside her burns a flame that no storm has ever been able to extinguish. Her hands work, her mouth speaks with wisdom, her heart trusts — not because she has everything figured out, but because she knows in whom she has believed.
Esther did not choose to be a queen, but she did choose to be brave. An orphan, a foreigner, living in a strange land, this young woman arrived at the palace with no greater wealth than her character and the faith inherited from her people. When the darkest moment threatened to destroy everything she loved, she did not hide behind her position or her privilege — on the contrary, she humbled herself in fasting, sought the face of God, and then stood up with a determination that can only come from above. With a single phrase, she said it all: "If I perish, I perish" (Esther 4:16). That is not desperation — that is a woman who has placed her life completely in the hands of God. Esther understood something that many of us take years to learn: grace does not exempt you from risk, it gives you the valor to face it. And when she acted, an entire nation was saved. Never underestimate what God can do through a woman who decides to trust Him — precisely for the moment in which she lives.
Perhaps today you feel far from that portrait. Perhaps exhaustion has dimmed your eyes or pain has silenced your song. But hear this with your whole heart: God is not calling you because you are already all of that — He is calling you so that you can become it by walking alongside Him.
Your grace was not born from your achievements. It was born from His love. Your valor does not come from your own strength. It comes from His Spirit.
You are, right now — in the middle of your process, in the middle of your incomplete story — a woman of grace and valor.
