Rekindle The Fire

“…so that there will not be enough for us and for you; instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.” (Matthew 25:9 — Parable of the Ten Virgins)
Have you felt lately that the flame of your faith isn’t burning as brightly as it once did, as if your heart is longing to be reignited by God’s presence?
Spiritual life moves in seasons. There are moments when our hearts burn with passion for God, and moments when the flame grows dim. Not because God has withdrawn, but because our human hearts—fragile, wounded, and easily distracted—sometimes drift, grow tired, or lose focus.
Yet Scripture reminds us of something essential: we cannot live without oil. We cannot walk without the presence of the Holy Spirit fueling our lamp. We cannot shine without the fire of God burning within us.
In the parable of the ten virgins, some ran out of oil because they assumed yesterday’s fire would sustain today’s journey. But the message was clear:“Go and buy oil… keep your lamp burning… don’t let your fire die out.” That message still speaks today.
We cannot face life’s battles with an empty lamp. We cannot navigate darkness without God’s light inside us. We cannot fulfill our purpose without the fire that only He can ignite.
And here is the beauty of God’s heart: When we come to Him honestly—bringing our wounds, our weariness, our doubts, or our spiritual dryness—He does not turn us away. He restores. He breathes life. He lifts what has fallen. He rekindles what has faded.
Our hope is not rooted in our strength but in His everlasting love:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
That love is the oil. That grace is the flame. That cross is the fire that reignites the heart.
God can restore what went dim. He can heal what was broken. He can renew what was worn down. He can fill with life what felt empty.
But He also invites us to participate: To guard our lamp. To seek His presence. To stay close to His heart. To refuse to settle for a lukewarm faith or a flickering flame.
Maybe today your soul longs to breathe again, to hope again, to believe again. Maybe you need God to touch your wounds, lift your spirit, and ignite your faith once more.
The good news is this: He can. He wants to. He will.
So, let me ask you: will you allow God to rekindle the fire within you until your whole being burns for Him once again?
