"The boundaries have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance." (Psalm 16:8, KJV)
Did you know you have an inheritance? Usually, an inheritance is something we receive from someone who has passed away, leaving us property or possessions. Consequently, while we often think of material things, we also have a spiritual inheritance through Christ Jesus.
In ancient times, ropes divided the land. In Psalm 16:8 (KJV), David says he has received a beautiful inheritance and that the boundaries have fallen in places that bring him joy and pleasure. He states, "The boundaries have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance."
Ordinarily, an estate is "land devoted to cultivation that belongs to a single person, family, or entity."
What God has promised us as an inheritance brings delight and joy. It is beautiful and valuable, as He sacrificed His Son for us. God has promised each of us an incorruptible inheritance. Unlike material possessions that perish, Christ's death on the cross guarantees our spiritual inheritance.
Thus, when we face difficult times that challenge our faith and make us consider giving up on God's promises, we must not lose focus on the "prize of the high calling." We must focus on "Christ our Lord, the goal of our sovereign vocation." We are not alone. God has not abandoned us. He knows what He is doing in our lives; unlike humans, nothing surprises Him.
What has God promised you? What prayer did you pray before that is being fulfilled in your life today? If you are still waiting for something, don't give up. God has an appointed day on which He will fulfill His will and grant you what you have asked of Him according to His purposes.
Let us pray together today:
Lord, your plans are for good, not evil, in our lives. Help our unbelief and increase our faith to continue believing in you without being swayed by the circumstances around us. You are always faithful and never lose control. We love You! Guide us with Your Holy Spirit and fulfill Your purpose in our lives for the glory of Your name. In the name of Your Son Jesus. Amen!
God bless you!
